Planning a Gift to Children's Hospital Boston
No one can predict what challenges lie ahead for the next generation of children. By
including Children's Hospital Boston in your estate plan through a bequest, charitable
trust, gift annuity, retirement assets, or life insurance policy, you can be sure that
Children's will remain a vital resource for youngsters who will need our care and
compassion tomorrow and into the future.
Please let us know if your estate plan includes a gift to Children's Hospital Boston so
we may thank you and welcome you as a member of the Abigail Loring Society. This
special society recognizes people who have informed the hospital that a gift to Children's
Hospital Boston is included in their will or estate plan.
How to make a Bequest
Please use the following language to remember Children's in your will:
Residuary Bequest: "I give, devise, and bequeath all (or percent of) the rest,
residue, and remainder of my estate to The Children's Medical Center, a Massachusetts
charitable corporation, located at 300 Longwood Avenue, Boston, Massachusetts."
How to Make a Gift that Provides Income to you
Three types of charitable arrangements, (charitable remainder trusts, gift annuities, and
pooled income funds) allow you to make a gift to Children's Hospital Boston from which you
will receive lifetime income. The tax and financial advantages of these arrangements often
result in enhancing your annual income. The best arrangement for you will depend upon your
age, the type of asset you wish to donate (e.g. cash, stock, real estate, or other
property), and the size of your gift. Each gift entitles you to an immediate income tax
deduction for a portion of your gift's value.
Gifts of appreciated securities offer double tax benefits. Generally, you are entitled
to deduct the full fair market value of your securities, and you completely avoid capital
gains tax.
